As per religious Hindu scriptures, Pandavas from the Mahabharata did the Char Dham yatra in order to wash away the sins that were committed by them during the epic war of Kurukshetra. So Kedarnath holds such religious significance in India for Hindus.
There were two ways to reach kedarnath

-> By Air

Delhi to Kedarnath is one of the most followed routes for pilgrims. Every year millions of devotees travel to Kedarnath Dham through Delhi, which is well-connected with major towns and cities of Uttarakhand.Dedicated to Lord Shiva and among the 12 Jyotirlingas, Kedarnath Dham is a sacred pilgrimage site. Situated at an altitude of 3,584 m above sea level, Kedarnath Temple is a part of Char Dhams and Panch Kedar in Uttarakhand. The Mandakini River flows beside the temple and adds charm to the picturesque surroundings. Snow-clad peaks exude charismatic appeal and the spiritual aura of this holy site leaves everyone.If you land in New Delhi, the best way is to take a bus to reach Dehradun which is about 260 km from the Indian capital. Kashmere Gate Bus Terminal and Anand Vihar Bus Terminal in Delhi are the two major interstate bus depots that run regular bus services to Dehradun. Once in Dehradun, you can take a bus to Kedarnath. There are plenty of options to choose from A/C sleeper, non A/C sleeper, Volvo A/C, Volvo A/C and semi-sleeper buses. You can also take a bus from Haridwar to reach Kedarnath. The distance between Haridwar and Kedarnath is around 125 km and buses take about 5 hours to cover the distance. Gaurikund is the nearest motorable area from Kedarnath. Or you can take four wheeler if you want privacy or to take photos throughout the journey. Finally you reached in kedarnath then you have two option to reach to wards temple. By Foot Track or By Riding on horse . By track you must carry your needed things like medicines, your woki toki because there were many problems of network during the journey and most important is your food and water because there were few stores of food and drinkable items and the price of that product is twice or thrice than MRP rate.The journey is about 16 km incline slope so you need to take extra shoes with you if incase your shoes were damage you can replace it and one more thing you must carry that your warm clothes with you. if you are going by foot track the view of the mountain and snow you can see it takes about 7-8 hours for reach to your destination . if you want to stay up in mountain there were facility is given some hotels were situated at the top of the mountain.

Kedarnath does not have an airport of its own which makes Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun the nearest civil airhead. Located around 250 km from Kedarnath, Jolly Grant Airport is connected to the major cities of India including New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. There are plenty of flights operating to and fro from these cities and provide a lot of options in terms of flight timing and fares. Almost all the major airlines have flights to Jolly Grant Airport. Once you are in Dehradun, you can either take a bus or hire a cab to reach Kedarnath. Now a days there were some private helicopter you can hire helicopter .They can pick up from dehradun to kedarnath top of the mountain it will take around 9000-12000 rupees per person and they also drop at dehradun after you take blessing from lord shiva.
After your journey completed you come to haridwar and take flight or train to reach to Delhi again.
